Construction is officially underway on The Glen at Heather Farm, East Bay’s newest senior living community. The Life Plan community will be designed to meet the urgent and growing demand for high-quality housing and lifestyle options for older adults in Contra Costa County.
Situated on more than 30 acres of privately owned land adjacent to Heather Farm Park in unincorporated Contra Costa County, The Glen at Heather Farm will offer 354 residential living apartments and single-story homes with more than 20 unique floor plans. Along with their new home, residents will have convenient priority access to assisted living, memory care and long-term care in the adjacent health center, if ever needed. The development represents one of the most significant senior living investments in the region in recent years.
With approximately 17% of Contra Costa County’s population now aged 65 and older – and that number expected to climb rapidly as the Baby Boomer generation ages – The Glen at Heather Farm is positioned to play a vital role in meeting the area’s evolving needs.
“We recognize the growing demand for comprehensive senior living options for East Bay seniors who wish to retire in the area they love. The Glen at Heather Farm will offer the freedom and peace of mind that many retirees seek today,” said Barbara Gilbert, The Glen at Heather Farm Marketing Director. “The Glen at Heather Farm reflects our commitment to creating a dynamic community where seniors can thrive physically, socially and emotionally.”
Beyond their front doors, residents will have access to an array of on-site amenities and services designed to enhance comfort, convenience, and wellness. These include housekeeping, maintenance, and landscaping, as well as multiple dining venues, a health spa, an aquatic center, theaters, and courts for tennis and pickleball. The Glen at Heather Farm will also feature a robust calendar of activities, events, and cultural programs, offering residents countless opportunities to stay active, connected, and engaged.
The Glen at Heather Farm is proud to be an active member of the Walnut Creek community and has begun building meaningful partnerships with local organizations. In April, The Glen at Heather Farm made a significant contribution to CocoKids, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing high-quality childcare and early education for families living in Contra Costa County.
As The Glen at Heather Farm takes shape, the community hopes to continue its involvement with the greater community. “We’re proud to be a part of the Walnut Creek community and to support local organizations that make a meaningful impact,” said Gilbert. “As The Glen at Heather Farm welcomes its first residents, we look forward to strengthening these partnerships and contributing to the region for years to come.”
Construction on the community is anticipated to be complete in late 2027 or early 2028. This new construction will create more than 200 jobs in the area.
